FAQ

Welcome to the official FAQ page of the Republican Party of Alberta (RPA). Whether you’re a new supporter, a curious voter, or a member of the media, you’ll find answers here to the most common questions about our mission, leadership, political beliefs, and how to get involved. At the core of our vision are the principles of Alberta Sovereignty and Alberta Autonomy, which guide everything we do.

No — not if the UCP is willing to work with us. We’ll be organized in every riding and open to negotiations where conservative unity is needed.

They will be released at our Fall AGM in November.

The Republican Party of Alberta (RPA) is a political movement committed to defending freedom, protecting individual rights, and restoring true self-determination for Albertans. We believe in smaller government, lower taxes, and greater autonomy for Alberta’s future.

Yes. The RPA believes that Alberta has the right to determine its own path. We are exploring full independence as a legitimate option for Alberta, allowing us to reclaim control over our laws, borders, economy, and natural resources. Our priority is giving Albertans the freedom to choose their own future through democratic means.

The Republican Party of Alberta strongly defends private property rights as a cornerstone of individual liberty and a free society. We believe landowners and property holders should have clear, secure rights protected from government overreach, expropriation, or regulation without fair compensation.

We oppose any legislation that infringes on a citizen’s right to own, manage, or pass on private property. Whether you’re a farmer, rancher, homeowner, or small business owner—your land is your right, and we will fight to keep it that way.

The Republican Party of Alberta supports the rights of law-abiding citizens to own, use, and responsibly carry firearms. We oppose unnecessary restrictions and federal gun control policies that punish responsible gun owners instead of targeting actual criminals.

We believe in self-defense rights, support for sport shooting and hunting traditions, and the right of Albertans to protect themselves, their families, and their property. Firearms ownership is part of our culture, history, and freedom—and we will work to defend it.

No. The Republican Party of Alberta is an independent Canadian political party, with no formal ties to any American political organization. Our platform is rooted in Alberta’s unique challenges and values, though we share a belief in liberty, limited government, and free enterprise.

Start by applying to join your local riding board. Full instructions will be available at the AGM.

Yes — we support lower taxes, responsible spending, and lean government focused on core services.

The UCP has failed to deliver a serious plan for independence. We’re willing to collaborate — but independence must come first.

No. We don’t do lawsuits or symbolic referendums. We’re here to ensure Albertans are given the chance to have their say in a binding independence referendum.

Absolutely. Our prosperity depends on resource development free from Ottawa’s interference.

That’s on the table — but only once Alberta stands on its own two feet. Then it will be up to Albertans, and only Albertans to decide our future.

Yes. If you agree with the mission and principles of the RPA you may become a member even though you hold other party memberships.

Alberta has had enough of political theatre.

We demand a real, binding independence referendum that forces a decision. If the current government won’t do it, we’ll make it the central issue in the next election and force a coalition to get it done.
